This event is for Practitioners, staff, parents, young people

In year one of the Creating Hope Together strategy we gathered together all the know information and data on what children and young peoples needs were in relation to suicide.

During this work we heard from young people that a parent or a peer is often the first person they approach when they want to speak about their mental health and suicide, but that for young people this can be daunting and for parents there is a great fear around getting this wrong.  To meet this the Enabling Conversation resource was co-developed with young people, adults and subject experts. This was launched in September 2025.

The resource provides guidance for young people to seek support and information to help adults respond.  (the links are the toolkit sections; the guidance is the young persons part and the information to help adults to respond is the adults part).

Since the launch several third sector organisations, local authorities and health boards have used the toolkit and promote this to parents and young people.
