FAQs – What to Know Before You Come Ideas
What happens at an Enchanting Kirtan event?
We gather in a warm, welcoming space. The evening starts gently with breath meditation followed by live music and chanting, inviting participation. You can sing, hum, clap, sway, dance, or simply listen - whatever feels right for you.
What is kirtan?
Kirtan is a form of musical meditation where sacred mantras are sung, often in a call-and-response style. It’s been practiced for centuries to help people relax, relieve stress, awaken inner peace and happiness
I’ve never done this before — is that okay?
Absolutely. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never meditated, or attended a kirtan before, this is for anyone seeking to relax, connect, and enjoy sacred sound.
Is this a meditation session?
Yes, but not the kind where you sit completely still and try to quiet your mind. Here you let the sound bathe your consciousness and the calm comes naturally.
Is this a religious event?
Kirtan is a spiritual practice rooted in ancient yogic tradition that is enjoyed by people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. It’s about music, meditation, and connection. Everyone is welcome to experience and enjoy it.
What do I need to bring / wear?
Just yourself and maybe a water bottle. Wear something comfortable. Cushions and chairs will be available, you don’t need to bring anything special.
How much does it cost?
This is a free community event. Donations are gratefully accepted and go toward running future regional events.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. Many people attend solo and leave feeling connected and uplifted.
Can I bring my children?
Yes! Children are welcome and can join in and have fun. The program includes sections of quiet meditation so we recommend bringing something to engage them at those times.
