    End of Life Doula Training

Walking people home with dignity and compassion

An End of Life Doula is a person who provides companionship, support, education and advocacy for a dying person and their significant others throughout the end of life process.

Do you want to become an End of Life Doula?

You are welcome to undertake this training for your personal development, to help friends and family members. It is equally well suited for you if you are wanting to add to your professional skillset.

This training is a trauma-informed 55 hour, 5 module program designed to be completed over three months, with flexibility for people with work and other commitments. You will have access to on demand educational videos, discussion forums, and live online class discussions to support your learning as you work through the modules which follow the phases of end of life from diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, through symptom management, deterioration, active dying, and bereavement.

Access to Module 1 opens Feb 4th, 2023

The live online classes are held on Saturday afternoons 3pm - 5pm Perth time (AWST) and the dates are:

    Feb 18th, 2023

Surya Health's End of Life Doula training is facilitated by lead educator Satyam Brown, an experienced palliative care social worker who has walked many hundreds of people home and supported staff and families in diverse settings including hospitals, hospices, prisons, and homes. Along with absorbing Satyam's decades of experience being with dying, you will also develop skills including guiding relaxation and mindful movement. These components will be taught by cancer researcher and yoga therapist, Chandrika Gibson.
