Event description

With the end of summer it’s pruning time for fruit trees while their sap is still rising. Join living legend of the orchard Jonathan Banks as we take a long hard look at our peaches, apricots, plums, nectarines, cherries, apples and pears.

  • How can we prune to maximise a crop of healthy fruit?
  • What’s the best size for our fruit trees?
  • Which tools are best?
  • What are some common pruning mistakes?

Jonathan will answer these questions and more. Some of the workshop will be spent in the classroom learning a bit of theory on pruning. There will also be practical time in our beautiful orchard as Jonathon demonstrates pruning techniques. Come home with the skills to get started on your own trees. No previous pruning experience necessary.

Optional extra: after lunch you are welcome to join us for a working bee to prune some of the stone fruit trees in our orchard under the guidance of experienced volunteers.
