Enduring Embroidered Words 

Fiona Connell

Join artist Fiona Connell to record a piece of your family’s oral history by stitching your chosen text into vintage textiles. Combining her love of doilies and fascination with the words that shape our personal worlds, she will show you how to preserve these phrases in a work of your own creation.

In this workshop in the beautiful newly renovated space at Fabrik, Lobethal we will be embroidering the text of one of your family member's favourite sayings onto vintage doilies.

Please come with a phrase or two in mind, shorter rather than longer is preferable. You will be shown how to transfer your text onto fabric, simple stitching techniques and also how you might like to display your work once finished.

Suitable for adults and no prior knowledge is required. All materials are  supplied, however if you have linen that is part of your family heritage you are welcome to bring that along to use.

Fiona is an experienced facilitator of textile workshops across the greater Adelaide area and promises a supportive enriching experience.
