Speakers:
Professor Stefan Trück - Director of for the Macquarie University Transforming Energy Markets Research Centre, and Co-Director of the Macquarie Business School Centre for Risk Analytics. A leading expert in energy and financial risk analytics, Stefan's research spans electricity and commodity markets, emissions trading, and climate change economics. He is also a recipient of the prestigious ARC Future Fellowship, recognising his contributions to sustainable energy systems and market resilience.
Dr Sara Deilami - Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering, Macquarie University and Connected Cities Theme Leader for the Macquarie University Smart Green Cities Research Centre. With over 20 years of experience in academia and the electrical engineering industry, Sara's research focuses on grid integration, electric vehicle charging, wireless technology, and renewable energy systems. She is also Vice Chair of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) NSW Section, championing sustainable energy solutions.
Professor Cathy Sherry - leading international land law expert in the Macquarie Law School and Sustainable Cities Theme leader in Smart Green Cities Research Centre. Her research explores the legal, economic, and social dimensions of high-density development and collectively owned land, with a strong focus on sustainable and liveable urban environments. She regularly advises governments globally on strata and community title law reform, contributing to more equitable and resilient urban planning.
Dr Rohan Best - Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, Macquarie University and member of the Transforming Energy Markets Research Centre & the Macquarie University Smart Green Cities Research Centre. Rohan's research focuses on energy economics, carbon pricing, and sustainable finance, with publications in leading journals such as Energy Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics. Dr Best’s work informs policy on equitable and cost-effective energy transitions, particularly in the context of renewable energy and emissions reduction.
Mark Lewis - Business Development Manager for the Electrification and Energy Systems Network within the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub. With over 20 years’ experience across industries and continents, he specialises in commercialising and scaling physical and digital technologies, and has led major decarbonisation initiatives including a $1.3M seed funding program. A certified Engineer and Program Director, Mark is known for delivering innovative solutions, building high-performing teams, and driving strategic partnerships.
