Engaging Boys to be Empathetic Allies - Daniel Principe & Laurel House
Event description
This unique professional development opportunity supports you to encourage boys and young men to flourish and become their best selves through mutual respect and empathy.
You'll gain insight and understanding about young people's perceptions of themselves in today's sexualised digital world, including:
How distorted images of masculinity shape mental health, body image and relationships.
A deeper understanding of influences in the digital space.
The relationship between these influences and school-based violence, sexual violence and long-term misogyny.
How to help boys unpack unhealthy messages and provide inspiring examples of good men and healthy relationships.
Please note - this session is designed for a professional audience who work with young people, such as teachers/educators, community service workers, allied health professionals, youth justice and out of home care workers, coaches and mentors.
Community members (including young people) are invited to attend a separate event designed for parents, carers and teens hosted by Devonport City Council. For more information and to register for this session visit www.devonport.tas.gov.au/whats-on-devonport
