    Event description

This session on negotiating open employment roles for young people with disabilities in Australia is designed to empower mainstream job coaches with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively promote the skills and strengths of the young people they are working with to employers in order to secure decent and meaningful job placements.

The workshop will focus on practical strategies and techniques for taking the information learnt during early stages of coaching about a young person’s conditions for success to identify potential job opportunities, engage with employers and work collaboratively with them to tailor job roles to align with the strengths and abilities of the young people they are working alongside.

Participants will gain insight on addressing employer concerns and advocating for reasonable accommodations and support. By the end of the training session, job coaches will be equipped with the tools and confidence needed to navigate the complexities of negotiating open employment roles, ultimately facilitating successful outcomes for young people with disability in Australia.

Presented by The National Collaboration on Employment and Disability at Brotherhood of St Laurence.
