In this workshop, participants will delve into the critical components of post-placement support and workplace training specifically tailored for young people with disabilities in Australia. Through engaging case studies and interactive discussions, attendees will explore best practices aimed at empowering employers to make necessary adjustments to ensure young employees with disabilities can effectively fulfill the requirements of their roles. Additionally, the session will highlight the importance of inclusive and accessible onboarding processes, the promotion of workplace inclusion, and effective strategies for navigating potential challenges. Â
The workshop will provide an overview of the various forms of assistance available within the Australian employment landscape to support both employees with disabilities and their employers, including resources such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and JobAccess. Emphasis will be placed on the significance of sustained support for employees with disabilities post-placement. Furthermore, participants will gain insights into strategies aimed at assisting employers in developing inclusive training programs that cater to the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities. Employment Coaches will be introduced to key practices designed to foster skill development and facilitate workplace success for young people with disabilities. Â
