Event description

Please note the date change: this workshop will now run on Thursday December 10th 1-3pm AEDT.

Dr Linda McIver from The Australian Data Science Education Institute delivers a two hour, online, interactive workshop on using authentic projects and real datasets to build STEM into subjects right across the curriculum.

Primary or Secondary teachers from any subject will find this workshop enlightening and invaluable as an introduction to authentic STEM projects using data.

The workshop includes an introduction to data science, including data cleaning, analysis, and visualisation, all building on your existing skills using spreadsheets, as well as sample projects from a wide range of curriculum areas, followed by a brainstorming session on developing projects for your own subjects.

Capped at 10 people per workshop for richer interaction, the ticket price includes one month's post-workshop email support for developing projects that suit your subject and your curriculum, as well as access to a private Facebook group for ongoing support and ideas.  (Note that all projects developed with ADSEI support will be shared on the ADSEI website)

Homeschool educators welcome.

Please email contact@adsei.org if your school is low SES/ICSEA and this prevents you from attending.

Feedback from teachers at previous workshops:

Linda is such a font of knowledge but she is so approachable in how she delivers the content. She was able to communicate with people from so many different backgrounds in a way that made the workshop accessible to all of them but didn't hamper those with more experience.

Linda knows what has worked in real teaching and real projects with kids. She is a fantastic teacher and provides extremely useful sources of information.

Excellent discussion of data science, how to incorporate it into teaching and how to make it relevant

A great workshop with loads of practical and engaging examples for how we can use data to create change. Thanks!
