Engineering Futures is a comprehensive program to support international, skilled engineers from all disciplines to find a job in South Australia, with a focus on career opportunities on Eyre Peninsula and in the Far North, South Australia.

The program is best suited to engineers with recent international or local engineering experience. It offers intensive learning activities to increase confidence, along with career support, mentoring, and opportunities to network with local employers. 

The primary objective of the program is to actively assist participant engineers in obtaining employment.

What we offer

  • 10 week career assistance program – 3 face to face and 6 online sessions
  • 4 day tour of Eyre Peninsula and the Far North of South Australia from 12 – 15 May, visiting and meeting employers in Port Augusta, Whyalla, Tumby Bay and Port Lincoln
  • 6 hours individual mentoring to help you move closer to employment

Course program

Engineering Futures is delivered face-to- face and online, incorporating job readiness skills, insight into career opportunities in the South Australian regions, and connections to employers.

Each session will feature guest speakers from industry, focusing on specific topics crucial for integrating and excelling within the South Australian engineering sector.

Who is eligible

International skilled engineers from all disciplines with a skills assessment outcome letter from Engineers Australia and a valid visa with work rights

International Skilled Engineer means an applicant or current holder of an Australian skilled migration visa; a prospective skilled migrant (who will apply for an Australian skilled migration visa in the future); or an applicant or holder of another Australian visa which allows the individual to work in a skilled position in Australia.

Note - This excludes applicants or holders of an Australian employer sponsored visa.

Participants must be the holder of a valid visa with suitable work rights when they commence employment in SA.

Requirements of all participants who enrol in the program 

  • Attend three face-to-face sessions in Adelaide and six online sessions.
  • Demonstrate active learning by completing assigned tasks throughout the program.
  • Participate in a scheduled 4 day tour of Eyre Peninsula and the Far North of South Australia.
  • Engage in 6 individual mentoring sessions.

Conditions

  • Participants will be required to meet specific goals and milestones throughout the program to enhance their preparation for employment in engineering.
  • Only engineers who complete the Engineering Futures 10-week program will be eligible to attend the tour.
