This interactive session offers students the chance to hear directly from industry professionals about their career journeys, gain practical tips on resume building and interview preparation, and understand what employers are looking for in future engineers. Whether you're in your first year or about to graduate, this event will help you take the next step in your engineering career with confidence.

Akshat holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems (Honours) from Edith Cowan University.

His passion lies in robotics and automation and he is driven by the transformative potential of technology. Currently, Akshat is focused on pursuing his career as a graduate engineer in fleet and autonomy at BHP. Within this role he is given the opportunity to apply his skills and enthusiasm to drive innovation and efficiency in engineering solutions within this dynamic field. Akshat is proud to be able to return to ECU, providing the current crop of engineering students with insights on his journey and experience as an international student, how he sought and gained local work experience and his transition into the professional arena from a learning one.

Richard Jones
Tertiary Engagement Manager – WA, Engineers Australia

Richard works for Engineers Australia as WA’s Tertiary Engagement Manager. A seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in training and education having worked at Curtin University, Murdoch University, and the Engineering Institute of Technology supporting students throughout their tertiary studies. His journey began with a passion for imparting knowledge, which led to pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) and further work in the Education and Training sector as a secondary school teacher. Through collaborative work in various settings, from corporate boardrooms to community classrooms, he has developed a keen understanding of the student journey, provided direct career support for many domestic and international students, and had the pleasure of working with individuals from all walks of life.
