Enlighten - Hungry Ghost Festival 2024

Enlighten is an immersive light experience that transforms our Peace Park into a unique lightscape. With light displays throughout the garden and light projected on the Great Stupa, it is an exclusive opportunity to enjoy a starry evening after dark at the largest Buddhist stupa outside Asia.

Our next Enlighten celebrates Hungry Ghost Festival on Saturday  17th August 2024 – a traditional Buddhist festival in which people believe that the gates of the afterlife are thrown open and the deceased visit the living looking for food, entertainment and mischief. To appease them, people prepare food offerings and burn incense, to honor their ancestors. We'll be celebrating with live music, delicious foods and entertainment for the whole family.

It is an exclusive opportunity to view the Great Stupa after dark, but more than that, an event that sheds light on all beings. Lama Zopa Rinpoche has said “The Great Stupa will enlighten the world.”

Tickets are available right up until the event unless sold out. 

If you hold a government-issued Companion Card for people with disabilities who require a companion and are purchasing a ticket, you are eligible for one free entry while accompanying the person holding the ticket. Please be able to show your Companion Card on request at entry as your ticket.

We do not offer concession card or senior card discounts on Enlighten tickets.

Dogs are welcome and must be on a lead at all times. It must be noted that the event is crowded and there will be live music.
