Enough? Enough! ENOUGH

Coming to Canberra Potters Gallery straight after our 2026 Members Exhibition, Enough? Enough! ENOUGH is our last exhibition of 2026. Featuring work by artists Kara Wood, Raquel Ormella and Zoe Brand, the exhibition explores the nature of labour, activism and social commentary through the intersecting practices of contemporary ceramics, art and design. The exhibition will be presented as part of the Craft + Design Canberra Festival and is inspired by the 2026 theme of dissent. 

We are inviting Canberra Potters members with wheel throwing experience to participate in a series of community making session to contribute to Kara Wood’s large scale ceramics installation that will take centre stage in the exhibition. A reimagining and expansion of a large-scale installation previously presented in Newcastle, Wood’s work explores feminist activism and the pursuit of equality through humour, history and storytelling.  

Across three collaborative workshops, participants will throw and manipulate reclaimed clay from Kara’s Newcastle studio and the Canberra Potters workshops. The resulting forms will become part of a striking gathering of large, raw-clay protest vessels. 

Bring your own throwing style, marks and imperfections to the project. Each form will be cut, altered, combined and assembled into a larger vessel—transforming many individual acts of making into one powerful collective protest.

Who.

The three workshops are suitable for Canberra Potters members with some previous wheel-throwing experience, from relative beginners through to highly experienced potters. Technical perfection is deliberately not the objective.

Skill level.

Participants are invited to bring their ceramic knowledge to the workshops, then explore what becomes possible when some of its familiar rules are set aside.

What to bring.

Your own clay tools, an old towel and apron. Please wear closed shoes.

#1 Community Making Session
When: 11am-1pm Sunday 18 October
Participants: Members with clay/throwing experience.

#2 Community Making & Assembling Session
When: 4.30-7.30pm Saturday 31 October
Participants: Members with clay/throwing experience.
 

#3 Community Assembling Session
When: 10-2pm Sunday 1 November
Participants: This session will involve using slips and underglaze, so no wheel throwing experience needed.
