Event description

Thursday, 8th September - 12:00-13:00PM AEST;

Offers and Needs Market - 13:00-14:00PM AEST

These turbulent times call for a new kind of leadership and service. Together, we need to re-imagine and experience new possibilities and tell stories from that place of hope. Held together, these stories can power movements, accelerate collective action and change systems towards a shared vision — especially in the business for good arena.

On the eve of Australia hosting the Social Enterprise World Forum 2022 in Brisbane, we’ll take some time to grapple with a big question: “What stories will accelerate collective action towards a better narrative for the world?”

Our speakers on this show will share their thoughts on the emerging stories we see today in social enterprise and the impact economy.

We’ll also run a special virtual Offers and Needs Market after the main show, facilitated by the wonderful Donnie Maclurcan.

The Offers and Needs Market (OANM) is a guided process where people meet to identify and exchange passions, knowledge, skills, resources, opportunities, and needs. Developed by the Post Growth Institute, we think it is a critical exchange that networks, collaborations and communities can use to discover the resources within ourselves and our communities, especially useful during times of turbulence and uncertainty.

Finally, we’ll take a moment to mark Digital Storytellers’ 9th birthday as a social enterprise and share one of our favourite stories to mark the occasion.

Cameron Willis, Day Four Projects - “Co-Creation for a Better World”

Earlier this year, Cam brought his skills, wisdom and facilitation to the process that resulted in what we see as Social Enterprise Australia today. These foundational pieces brought together an incredibly diverse and disparate group of impact economy actors together to co-create what we see as a new organisation in the impact economy.

We’ve invited Cam to share a bit more about the process and how it might be applicable in all we create in the impact economy moving forward. What principles underlie this practise of bridging across diversity? How can social enterprises use these processes to truly co-create the future and lead the rest of the economy?

Donnie Maclurcan, Post-Growth Institute - “The Offers and Needs Market”

Donnie Maclurcan

Donnie Maclurcan is the founder of the Post-Growth Institute., Based in the US, the institute is an international, not for profit organisation working to enable collective wellbeing within ecological limits. Originally from Australia, Donnie will also share with us a bit of his origin story behind the Institute and his creation of the Offers and Needs Marketplace, and run a virtual 1-hour Offers and Needs Marketplace in the post-show experience.

Digital Storytellers - Celebrating Nine Years of Story Leadership

We’ll also take a moment on the show to mark nine years for Digital Storytellers as a social enterprise. We’ll select and screen one or two of our favourite stories over our time that mark what we hope for the future. We hope you can join us to celebrate this moment.
