Description

Join the 2026 Environment Canterbury Youth Rōpū for their planting event on Saturday 19th September. We will begin with a welcome and planting demonstration at 10am, then we will plant for around 90 minutes before tucking into a delicious BBQ lunch. The event will wrap up by 1pm.

All gear provided. Please let us know of any dietary requirements you have. See the maps attached for directions to the planting site.

The ECan Youth Rōpū is a body of people aged 14-24 who are enthusiastic about the environment, civics and empowering young people across Canterbury/Waitaha.

Made up of 18 members, the Youth Rōpū was formed to facilitate a two-way relationship between young people and decision-makers in Waitaha. The Youth Rōpū gives young people in the Waitaha region an opportunity to promote the issues they care about.

Our main events are our Inter-School Enviro Hui where we aim to bring together environment groups from across Waitaha! We also organise plantings, workshops and engagements with council. Read more about us here!
