A Decade of Australian Earth Observation: Reflecting and Looking Ahead
Description
Join Earth Observation Australia to reflect on a decade of progress, change and collaboration across the Australian Earth observation (EO) community. Anyone with an interest in EO in Australia is welcome to attend.
The webinar will open with a presentation by Professor Stuart Phinn, founding President of EOA, on the origins of EOA and the 2016–2026 Australian Earth Observation Community Plan. This will be followed by a panel discussion facilitated by Dr Fang Yuan, EOA’s current President, with Professor Phinn, Emerita Professor Megan Lewis and Sebastian Robertson, all former EOA presidents. Together, they will reflect on the community’s journey over the past decade: what has been achieved, what has changed, and the challenges and opportunities ahead.
During the webinar, EOA will launch the 2026 Community Survey, inviting anyone who works with, uses, teaches or supports EO in Australia to reflect on the past and help inform EOA’s next steps and the priorities and structure of any future Australian Earth Observation community strategy.
