The WorkUP Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mentoring Program, Walking Together, Learning Together, is returning in 2026. The program has been extended and redesigned based on participant feedback and facilitator reflections to include an ‘on Country’ experience to foster healing, growth and connection. In 2026, this will be hosted on Minjerribah in SE Queensland.
Walking Together, Learning Together creates a dedicated space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers in the Domestic and Family Violence, Sexual Violence, and Women’s Health and Wellbeing sectors to connect, reflect, and grow together through a variety of trauma informed healing & grounding activities.
We are inviting both Mentors and Mentees to be part of this 12 month journey, building meaningful mentoring partnerships and support networks and strengthening the workforce from within.
About the Program
Walking Together, Learning Together is designed to support and strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander frontline workers by creating opportunities for connection, shared learning, and personal & professional development.
In 2026, the program will include a three-day on-Country residential, incorporating culturally grounded healing and grounding activities such as weaving, meditation and walking tours.
Through guided conversations and workshops, participants will:
build strong, culturally safe mentoring relationships
deepen knowledge and confidence in their roles
connect with others across the sector
feel supported to stay and thrive within the workforce
