Description

The Early Music Studio and Early Voices proudly presents a semester’s work from its students. Enjoy excerpts from Le bourgeois gentilhomme, by French classical music’s legendary master Lully which establishes colour and pageantry. Alongside pieces from the sackbut ensemble which explores the excitement and flair of late 16th-century Europe.

This semester marks the second Annual Baroque Ensemble concerto extravaganza, showcasing some of the unique student talent in the Early Music Studio.  The extravaganza features a concerto for piccolo by Vivaldi, a recorder concerto by Sammartini, cello concerti by Leo and Tartini, organ concerto by Handel, and a new arrangement of Vivaldi’s double cello concerto for cello and violone.

The programme closes with the moving Litanies de la Vierge by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, which combines instrumental and vocal forces in a powerful prayer to the Virgin Mary.

PARKING

The City of Melbourne has changed the parking restrictions around the Southbank Campus. Parking control hours are now expanded to 7am–10pm, seven days per week, and are capped at three hours. A $2-per-hour fee after 7pm is also now in place. There is no change to the $4-per-hour peak rate between 7am–7pm. Parking inspectors are regularly in the area fining drivers who overstay their meter, so we encourage everyone to be aware and avoid an expensive fine.

We are committed to making our events accessible and will accommodate requirements wherever possible. All venues at the Southbank campus are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us at fineartsmusic-tickets@unimelb.edu.au if you have any questions.
