Event description

Wild Ride is a contemporary scripted interpretation of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak that has been adapted, written, directed, choreographed and designed by Chelsea Crowe and Samanda Sankowsky. This production features our Year 9 and 10 eP!C Youth Co. performers and their array of talents in acting, dance, puppetry, and theatrical design.

Meet Max, a wildly physical tween who loves to skateboard and daringly navigate the world around her. Like her Year 6 and 7 buddies Scott, Beth and Kate, Max is on a journey to discover who she is and where she truly belongs in the world.

Joined by her gecko sidekick Dot, Max will take the audience on an imaginative ride through life’s ups and downs, as she rolls into Year 6 camp and teenagerhood. After an encounter with the Wild Ones, Max learns to find the light in the dark, discovering that she can jump over the obstacles in her way. Despite life pulling off a full 180 trick, Max skates into a new perspective on change and identity, knowing that others will be there to catch her if she falls, especially her parents.

As Wild Ride will be presented as part of the Awesome Arts Festival in September, this show has been written for an audience of eight to thirteen-year-olds. Rest assured though, we have included something for all ages along the way!

Show duration:

  • Will be approximately 45 minutes.
