Event description

Join this online program to INSPIRE + EQUIP more women to run for public office in Australia

Cost

Western Sydney University Students: $50
Women of Western Sydney : $120

Women for Election Australia (WFEA) and Western Sydney University (WSU) are partnering to bring to students of WSU and women across the Western Sydney Community a uniquely non-partisan forum about politics. This is a must-attend event if you want to understand more about Australian politics; or think that one day you may like to run for office; or understand more about political campaigns and how you could help another woman get elected.

This event is tailored to address the specific challenges that women face when they run for public office and provide the tangible skills needed to run a campaign; be that for local Council, or for a state or federal seat.  Each of us is passionate about issues that have policy solutions; whether it's climate policy, First Nations recognition, asylum seeker reform, improving gender equality, public education funding, ecological and sustainability reforms and so much more. But there is only so much that 'marching on Canberra' can achieve. We need more women like you at the table where decisions are being made; at all levels of government! Come and learn how to run for public office or help someone from your community to get elected.

You'll hear from speakers such as Licia Heath, CEO of Women for Election, Ruth McGowan OAM, former Mayor and author of 'Get Elected', Kat Henaway, CEO of Politics in Colour, as well as other special guests and experts, including already elected politicians!
