Erik Weideman — The Songs & Stories of 1927
Intimate Dinner Concert — Bundanoon Hotel
Join us at Bundanoon Hotel for a very special evening with Erik Weideman — singer, songwriter and unmistakable frontman of iconic Australian band 1927.
For more than three decades, Erik’s remarkable voice has been at the heart of some of Australia’s most enduring songs, including “That’s When I Think of You,” “If I Could,” “Compulsory Hero,” “You’ll Never Know” and “Tell Me a Story.”
For one night only, Erik will bring these songs to Bundanoon Hotel in an intimate acoustic setting.
Following the sold-out success of Jack Jones and the soon-to-be-sold-out Damien Leith event, don’t miss the next instalment in Bundanoon Hotel’s special up-close concert series. These intimate evenings offer a rare opportunity to experience performers of this calibre at close range, with Erik sharing the songs, stories and memories behind the extraordinary career of 1927.
From Red Faces to Australian Music History
Before Australian Idol and The Voice, Erik was discovered after performing The Police classic “Roxanne” on the Red Faces segment of Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
His performance led to a meeting with former Moving Pictures songwriter Garry Frost and the formation of 1927.
The band’s debut album, …ish, became one of the landmark Australian releases of the late 1980s. The multi-platinum album produced six charting singles, remained in the Australian Top 50 for 46 weeks and earned 1927 ARIA Awards for Breakthrough Single and Breakthrough Album.
Their success continued with the multi-platinum follow-up album The Other Side and songs that remain fixtures of Australian radio and continue to connect with audiences across generations.
The Experience
Guests will enjoy a beautifully curated two-course dinner before settling in for a 60-minute acoustic performance followed by an encore from Erik Weideman.
Expect an atmosphere more like a private concert than a traditional show, with Erik sharing stories from his career and presenting the music of 1927 in its most personal and revealing form.
Warm, intimate and emotional, this will be a rare opportunity to experience one of Australian music’s most distinctive voices at close range.
Expect songs including:
“If I Could”
“That’s When I Think of You”
“Compulsory Hero”
“You’ll Never Know”
“Tell Me a Story”
Along with selections from Erik’s broader catalogue and more recent 1927 material.
“Erik’s solo set is excellent because it highlights his beautiful, resonant, emotive voice. It was cool how he sat on a stool playing his guitar and relating stories of his adolescence and love lost and found — themes we can all relate to.”
