Fibre & Flower Workshop in Milton
Event description
In collab with FRED, our last workshop for the year will be a full day creative retreat where you'll prep, shape and adorn your own sculptural piece, ready to hang or gift.
First you'll learn random weaving with Jules of Flow and Flourish, and after lunch adorn your woven wall sculpture with naturally dried florals and foliage with the guidance of local floral artist, Fred. You might like to make a traditional wreath or explore contemporary basketry techniques to create an all-year-round door or wall sculpture using fibre and flowers. Using your own creative style you'll select colours and textures while learning tips and tricks to attach the blooms to enhance your hand made piece. You may also like to bring and add your own collections from beach or bush.
No weaving experience required. This hands-on workshop includes:
- Tuition on the contemporary 'random weave' technique
- Guidance re collecting and preparing plant fibres for sustainable art
- All weaving materials including foraged Bangalow palm inflorescence, naturally dried florals and foliage
- Nutritious and delicious morning tea, hot and cold bevvies and a seated lunch with an array of hot and cold dishes and salads
