Escape from Afghanistan with Erfan Abidi - Zoom Only
Event description
When Kabul fell to the Taliban in August 2021, those who helped the American-led coalition forces in Afghanistan, including the Australian Defence Forces, were targeted for reprisal. In the rush to evacuate troops and others holding visas, special consideration was urged for interpreters.
Erfan Abidi is a highly educated security expert and interpreter who assisted both American and Australian soldiers to carry out missions in remote villages in Afghanistan. He was one of the lucky ones to secure a visa from Australia and is now settled in Adelaide with his young family.
Join us as Erfan tells a remarkable story of his experiences during the Afghan war, with the Taliban, and the deadly chaos at Kabul airport as thousands attempted to flee the country. Now safe in Australia he shares his insights on war, peace, identity, and home.
A zoom link will be emailed to you after registering.
