Event description
What is a better way to end your damp/dry January than a Portuguese wine dinner?! We will be pouring 6 unique wines from the estate expertly paired with 4 courses.
VinoTeca is honored to be one of the first to offer Esporão wines in the Atlanta market. This winery was born in the Alentejo out of the unconditional desire to make the finest wines. The Alentejo is a winegrowing region with the widest variety of soils and is distinguished by gentle plains and shallow valleys carved out by occasional streams, a Mediterranean climate with certain areas boasting a continental microclimate and the constant presence of corn fields, vineyards and olive groves. Esporão also produces beer and olive oil on their fully sustainable estate. They have a commitment to organic farming and currently has more than 189 varieties planted, 40 of which are in full production.
Presenting this prestigious winery is friend of the store, David Kemmerer. He will focus not only on the wines but also travel and culture of Portugal.
The dinner will be comprised of 6 wines and 4 courses of Portuguese inspired tapas paired perfectly by Pedro Jesus Porras, who recently moved to Decatur from Spain. Born and raised in southern Spain, Pedro Porras is a classically trained chef specializing in Spanish and European gastronomy. Pedro began his formal culinary studies in 2005 and spent the next two decades mastering his craft across Spain’s most gastronomic cities, as well as in London and Copenhagen where he worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and opened several restaurants across Europe, combining his deep respect for tradition with a flair for creativity. In 2023, Pedro embarked on a journey through the Americas which led him to his wife and eventually the U.S.
