Event description

David has been a Rotarian since 1999 after joining the Rotary Club of Sydney CBD,  He was President in 2003-2004. His wife Suzanne joined the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove in 1999 and also served as President.    He became the District Governor of the then District 9750 (now District 9675) in 2010-2011.

David and Suzanne moved to Berry in late 2010, halfway through David’s DG year.  He joined Berry Rotary Club and was Treasurer for three years.

David was born in England in and came to Australia in the mid ‘70s and is now an Australian citizen. 
He gained a first-class honours BSc degree in Physics and Maths from London University in 1966 and then a master’s degree in Business Studies from the London Business School in 1968. 
He worked in corporate life in marketing and general management from leaving the London Business School until retirement from Telstra in 2005.

David gained a passion for the environment working as a volunteer guide at the Australian Museum in Sydney around 2008 and then, after completing his DG year, he undertook six years of postgraduate education as an external student at Murdoch University gaining a Graduate Diploma and Masters degree in environmental science.  

He was invited to establish a District Environmental Team in March 2021 by DG Michael Moore to encourage clubs to embrace the embrace the new Rotary Area of Focus of “Protecting the Environment” and to help clubs initiate worthwhile and satisfying environmental projects. The District Team is now called the Environmental Envoy team recognising its outreach mission to help clubs.
