This is a Google Meet event. Please ensure you have access to Google Meet before the event.

On 27th March 2024, the Abortion Legislation Reform Act 2023 (WA) came into effect in Western Australia. This act removed barriers to accessing abortion in Western Australia, bringing it in line with the rest of the country.

Participants in this session can expect to hear about unintended pregnancy and abortion statistics, what is involved in a clinical unintended pregnancy consultation and referral pathways specific to WA. It will also cover the differences between a medical and a surgical abortion as well as provide an update on the WA Abortion Legislation. This session also includes a counselling framework to support clients from a non-directive approach.

This session aims to improve the practice of professionals who consult with clients presenting with unintended pregnancy with valuable information about the Abortion Legislation Reform in Western Australia and how to conduct the session in a client-centred manner.
