Calling all educators in Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra Council areas! Join us for a year of learning, networking, and hands-on experiences as part of the Eastern Suburbs Sustainable Schools Network.

• Habitats for Wildlife - Wednesday 26 August

• Nature Play - Tuesday 17 November

Term 3 - Habitats for Wildlife

Discover local wildlife that use hollows for homes and learn how to create habitats in your school or early learning setting.

Presented by Sydney Wildlife Rescue and Woollahra Council educators, this hands-on professional learning session explores:

• How tree hollows are formed and the wildlife that depend on them.

• Why these vital habitats need protection and practical tips for identifying hollows in your local trees.

• Real stories of hollow-dependent wildlife rescue and care.

• What to do if you find an injured native animal.

• A practical habitat-building activity, including how to construct a possum drey for your school or centre.

Suitable for teachers and educators working across all age groups, this session provides practical knowledge, local insights, and ideas to support curriculum-linked learning about biodiversity.

When: 3.45 - 5pm | Wednesday 26 August

Where: Rose Bay Cottage, O'Sullivan Road, Bellevue Hill (access via Woollahra Golf Club car park)

About our Network 

The Eastern Suburbs Sustainable Schools Network (ESSSN) is for educators from early learning to high school. Meeting each term, the Network provides free professional development on a wide range of topics, opportunities to connect with like-minded teachers from other schools and to hear from Council about the resources available to schools.

How to claim professional learning credit 

Claim teacher professional learning accreditation for attending meetings. Teachers can register their participation through their NESA / Teacher Accreditation / ETAMS account under Elective Professional Development. The Course addresses the following Standards - "Standard 6 Engage in Professional Learning" - 6.2.2, 6.3.2 and 6.4.2.
