Transforming art to practical products: Create a custom printed tea towel with Next State

You provide your art and Next State will help you create your own printed tea towel!

Please note: Participants must provide a file for a printed tea towel in advance of the event – full details of what is required will be supplied in advance.

In this 90 minute workshop you will:

    • Hear about the history of Next State, their accreditation with Ethical Clothing Australia and the benefits it brings to their business.
    • Enjoy a factory tour, learn more about digital textile printing.
    • See examples of printed fabric and talk through strengths and weakness of different artworks.
    • Discuss the three different types of printing process and the two done at Next State.
    • Hear more about Next State's product manufacturing and how they cost products as a local manufacturer on a one off/custom level.
    • See your files print on a cotton/linen and sublimate a polyester sample using your files!

One week after the event, you'll receive your printed and finished tea towel from Next State!

The cost to participate covers the cost of the tea towel and postage costs.

About Ethical Clothing Australia Week 2024

Ethical Clothing Australia Week recognises the people and businesses that make textiles, clothing and footwear (TCF) products in Australia. Currently there are almost 500,000 workers in the TCF industry in Australia, with most employed as garment workers in manufacturing. The only event of its kind in the country, this week-long campaign celebrates the skilled workers within the vibrant TCF industry and highlights accredited manufacturers and brands.

The official program will run from 7-13 October with a calendar of in-person and online events hosted by Ethical Clothing Australia and their community of accredited businesses. Ethical Clothing Australia will also host a series of industry events in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Join us for Ethical Clothing Australia Week 2024 and celebrate ethically made!
