Event description

Come and join the newly formed Eugowra Catchment Landcare for a catchment tour and property visits. This event is a follow on from the 'Slow the Flow' events sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and the Mulloon Institute.

The idea is to take a step out from our own farm views to look at the wider catchment and understand some of the larger issues and view some works that have previously been done to address salinity and water flow within the region. It is hoped it will give everyone some ideas and also build Eugowra Catchment Landcare ready for planning and project works in the future.

Our guides for the day will be Andrew Wooldridge (Wooly) and Allan Nicholson, salinity technical specialists who have worked in this region over the last 25 years. Wooly also runs a farm in Canowindra and Allan was a former graduate of Mandagery Public School. Both have extensive knowledge of the regions catchments and are looking forward to being a part of the day.

We will all meet at 8.45am in the Eugowra Showground and then car pool for the tour. If you have a car that can fit 4-5 people and are happy to offer to drive that would be great. The main tour will travel out from Eugowra to Reedy Creek Rd, on to Waterhole Creek Rd and through to Mackeys Creek Rd. with visits to 3 properties where the owners will discuss what they have been doing to slow the water across their landscapes, reduce erosion or repair salinity effected land.

Morning tea will be provided but we ask that everyone brings their own lunch that can be eaten in the car between sites or whilst visiting the properties when you get hungry.

We are anticipating the day to be finished by 2.30pm but it will really depend on the participants and how long we spend at each of our stops.

Please contact Tracee Burke - 0417 799 425 or midlachlanlandcare@gmail.com if you have any questions.
