Eurobodalla Greens Housing Forum
Event description
Why is it so hard to get rental accommodation in Eurobodalla? What will it take to be able to house families and essential workers like nurses and teachers in the current housing crisis?
How can local government make a contribution to ensuring secure housing for all in our community, now and into the future?
Hear about the Draft Eurobodalla Housing Strategy and be supported in making your own submission to council while this strategy is open for comment. The public exhibition period ends on 10th July.
Current Councillor and Deputy Mayor Alison Worthington will host this forum along with our lead candidate in the September 14th council elections, Colleen Turner. We will be outlining Council’s draft strategy and its implications for the types of housing available in the Eurobodalla in years to come.
- Should council require that a proportion of all new medium density housing built be allocated as affordable housing?
- How can we get the settings right so that higher density housing is done well, that it is disability accessible, and that it builds communities that encourage interaction and support among residents and businesses?
- Will the strategy set an expectation that all new dwellings are constructed in accordance with ecologically sustainable development principles and be climate positive and climate ready?
Learn about options for council to leverage the planning tools we have to get the housing mix right to ensure the basic right of access to secure housing for all.
This forum is an opportunity to learn what council proposes and to share ideas for solutions.
