The Tasmanian Hospitality & Tourism Academy (THTA) is excited to announce a new iteration of the Event Skills Program - a practical, job-ready training initiative designed to prepare you for real-world success in the state’s growing event and festival sector.
This intensive program combines structured theory with hands-on experience at live events—giving you the skills and confidence to step straight into the workforce.
Why join the Event Skills Program?
This intensive program has been designed in collaboration with the Tasmanian event and festival industry, including some of the teams behind our best events and festivals...think Taste of Summer, Australian Wooden Boat Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Kunanyi Mountain Run, Australian Musical Theatre Festival, Dark Mofo, Beaker Street, Junction Arts, The Unconformity and many more!
You will receive training from industry that will ensure that:
- you build practical skills through real-life experience at events
- gain industry connections and networking opportunities
- understand the how Tasmanian events work and what roles you can fill within the sector
- create a direct pathway into employment in the events and tourism sector.
Essential Information:
Where: Hobart and surrounding areas within Southern Tasmania.
What: A mix of in-person classes and placements - a combination of theory classes and practical placements at Tasmanian events.
Cost: $250 per person for 2-week program and placements - If cost is a barrier, please reach out to us, we want to fill the program with good people and can assist with making the program accessible for you!
When: 26 October to 5 November 2026 + placements over the 2026-27 summer period.
