Event description

Every Bite’s back and we want you to join us!

Wanaka Wastebusters is incredibly excited to bring back Every Bite, our food waste prevention programme designed to help households cut back on their food waste, become more food resourceful, and save money in the process.

This three-week programme provides you with the tools, support and, most importantly, the motivation to monitor your food waste, as well as loads of tips, tricks, and tasty recipes for keeping your kai in date and on your plates. It’s super easy and with the average household throwing away more than $1300 worth of food a year, a few small tweaks to your daily habits can make a big difference to your household food waste and your grocery bill.

What to expect:

  • The 3 week programme consists of two in-person sessions (one at the start and one at the end), with some simple strategies for you to try at home to help you reduce your food waste.
  • At the first in-person session on Thursday 8th May (from 6.00pm - 8.00pm) at the Atheneum Hall in Arrowtown, you'll be treated to a delicious dinner prepared by Crowne Plaza chef, Patagon Kitchen owner and local zero waste champion Alvaro Briones, as he shares all his industry tips for reducing spoilage, ideas for recipe substitutes, and loads more.
  • You’ll receive newsletters during the programme with updates, recipes and ideas to keep you on track and you’ll have access to a Facebook group where you can share your progress and ideas with other participants, ask questions, discuss challenges and celebrate your wins.
  • We’ll come back together on Thursday 29th May (from 6.00pm - 7.30pm) venue TBC, to have a kōrero and hear how you got on.

The three week Every Bite programme costs just $10 per person, including dinner and drinks at the launch event, with all proceeds going to local food recovery charity, Kiwi Harvest.

Every Bite is part of the Ministry for the Environment’s National Food Waste Reduction programme. It is a collaborative programme that is being designed and delivered by Zero Waste Aotearoa, with the support of members from both Zero Waste Aotearoa and Environment Hubs Aotearoa.
