Event One: Explore a Regional City in Victoria, Bendigo

Video Screening and Panel

We warmly invite you to join our Everyday Heroes China live stream series event One: screening a video about the regional Victoria, Bendigo, followed by an interactive panel sharing with current and former Chinese international students.

The video will feature Michael Tian interviewed by Feifei Liao, sharing his dreams and wonders about Bendigo, a place with inclusive multicultural communities and rich Chinese heritage.

Away from the busy city, you can dive into the peaceful life in Bendigo easily and explore something unique locally with friends, eating, laughing, chatting, enjoying arts and collecting antiques.

Michael will also share his experience as an international student and tips on taking the best photos!

Our panel will bring you a fun and interactive experience, evoking your five senses in an artistic and creative way. While our panellists share their stories, we will reveal some lucky dips of objects and props that reflect their stories and allow you to feel connected with their experiences.

Panellist: Michael Tian
  • Michael is a peer mentoring officer at RMIT University, also a Global student advocate and diversity and inclusion champion in his volunteer time. Time back three years ago when he came to Australia alone, he still remembers the rough feeling of helplessness in a strange country. Fortunately, he got a lot of support from various communities and peers, and he is always keen to empower more international students to find their light while studying overseas. It’s not easy, but once you never give up, you will find your self-value and influence more peers in a positive way. In his spare time, he is a traveling addict, as he puts in his Instagram bio, if you can’t find Michael, then find him on Google Maps. He enjoyed the time hanging out with diverse friends from different countries.
Panellist: Jing Yang
  • Jing is a Sustainability Professional recently joined KPMG Australia’s emerging circular economy team. Before that, Jing has been working in both local and state government to deliver environment and sustainability programs. Outside of work, her passion is exploring many indoor and outdoor activities Australia could offer - surfing, bouldering, freediving, snorkeling, hiking, still counting. She also runs a community group called ‘Lalala Outpick’, providing safe space and social opportunities for CALD queer women and allies to explore different parts of Victoria for bushwalking and litterpicking.
