EVolocity Arduino Workshop - Waikato

Price FREE Get Tickets

Event description

This workshop is for EVolocity students or those interested in our program for Years 7 - 13.

Explore electronics & programming and learn how to build a dashboard for your EV.

Our Arduino programming experts will take you through a step-by-step tutorial on building and programming your Arduino-based system monitor for your own electric vehicle. Our Tech Team have been hard at work developing new Arduino workshop content and hardware, which is intended to be much more concise, and more useful to teams who are wanting to get a foot in the door with programming and data-related electronics. For Open Class teams, you must monitor the temperature of lithium batteries as per the rules, and everyone will leave the Arduino workshop with a working temperature monitoring system. This workshop is essential for those using lithium batteries.

WHAT WE WILL COVER

Understand what an Arduino is and how it works

• Learn how to use an Arduino safely, and how to program your Arduino using code you've written

• Begin making a dashboard for your electric vehicle to provide performance data

• Along the way, you will learn valuable programming constructs such as variables, conditionals, loops etc

If this is new to you, you won't be alone! No experience is necessary.

ARDUINO KIT

If you are attending the workshop, you will need to purchase a kit. The kits will be provided at the workshop and you'll be sent an invoice following the event. We are in the process of developing new kits so at this stage the exact cost is unknown, but may be around $60. If you aren’t intending on coming along to the workshop but would like to purchase a kit, please let me know.
