EVOLVE - 2027 DramaWest State Conference
Description
DramaWest, in association with Perth Festival and St Mary's Anglican School for Girls, proudly present the 2027 State Conference for Drama Educators!
The DramaWest team have been busy engineering and constructing an exciting conference program designed to inspire, challenge and connect Drama educators from across Western Australia.
This year's conference theme, EVOLVE, celebrates the ever-changing world of Drama education and invites us to embrace new ideas, challenge our thinking and explore the creative possibilities of what comes next!
Through a diverse range of practical workshops, engaging discussions and opportunities for collaboration, delegates will be invited to explore four key streams:
Evolving Curriculum will explore the changing landscape of Drama education, including the introduction of the new Pre-primary to Year 10 Arts curriculum and developments in the General Drama syllabus. Workshops will provide practical strategies, fresh ideas and opportunities to build confidence in navigating curriculum changes.
Evolving Technologies will investigate the creative possibilities of technology and theatrical design, including audiovisual production, lighting, sound, costume and set design. Discover new techniques, develop practical skills and explore ways to bring theatrical magic into your classroom and school productions.
Evolving Processes will encourage educators to rethink, reimagine and refresh their approaches to teaching Drama. From artificial intelligence and cross-curricular collaboration to devising, improvisation, game-play, advocacy and Process Drama, these workshops will offer innovative strategies to spark creativity, collaboration and student engagement.
Evolving Stories will celebrate the power of storytelling and the importance of the voices we bring to the stage. Explore new texts, adaptations, diverse representation and student-devised work, while considering whose stories we tell and how we can empower young people to share their own.
Whether you're an experienced Drama educator, new to the classroom or simply looking to reignite your creative spark, the 2027 State Conference promises something for everyone.
Come ready to connect, collaborate, create and EVOLVE!
We can't wait to welcome you for a celebration of Drama education, creativity and community.
