Excursion to SERCUL (South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare) in Beckenham

9:15-12 noon

9:15 arrival and check in

9:30-12:00 2 sessions (break in between)

For: Years 3-6 students

• Please note that there is limited space at the SERCUL venue: siblings who are not participants in this year group range, are NOT able to be accommodated.

• CLOSED SHOES MUST BE WORN

Content:

Aquatic Weeds

• Learn about the environmental problems that occur when plants from ponds and aquariums are released into drains and waterways to become weeds.

• We will take a walk around Yule Brook to see if we can spot any of these weeds.

Go Fish: 

• Go ‘fishing’ and discover what fish are found in the freshwater sections of the rivers and other waterways around Perth.

• Fin out what affects our native fish is discussed and students help to create healthy fish habitat.

• Learn what we can all do to look after our native fish and our waterways is also covered.
