Our Empowerment & Training Day is designed to help women build confidence, overcome self-doubt, find their voice and recognise their worth. Whether you've been nominated for a West Country Women Award, run a business, lead a team, volunteer in your community or simply want to feel more confident in yourself, this day is for you.

Hosted at Exeter Racecourse, this inspiring and practical day brings together two experienced trainers who have spent years helping women step out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

What To Expect

9.00am: Arrival & Networking

Start the day with tea, coffee and conversation while meeting like-minded women from across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

A chance to make new connections, share experiences and settle in for a day focused entirely on you.

9.30am: Confidence, Mindset & Breaking Through Barriers

Join Clare Palmer, affectionately known as The Bullshit Terminator, for an honest, energising and practical session on confidence, self-belief and overcoming the barriers that hold so many women back.

Together you'll explore:

Imposter Syndrome
Self-doubt and confidence
Setting boundaries
Recognising your strengths
Tackling the stories we tell ourselves
Building resilience and self-belief

Expect practical tools, plenty of laughter and a few lightbulb moments along the way.

11.30am: Public Speaking, PR & Presence

Broadcaster, journalist, speaker and West Country Women Awards Founder Alexis Bowater OBE will share the secrets she has learned from more than three decades working in television, radio, journalism, public relations and public speaking.

This highly practical session is designed to help you communicate with confidence in any situation.

You'll learn how to:

Speak in front of an audience without panic
Prepare for presentations, awards events and interviews
Handle nerves before they handle you
Tell your story with impact
Promote yourself and your achievements without feeling uncomfortable
Face cameras, microphones and media interviews with confidence

Whether you're speaking to a room of ten people or ten thousand, these are skills that will stay with you for life.

1.00pm: Networking Lunch

A relaxed lunch and an opportunity to continue conversations, make new contacts and build your network in a supportive environment.

2.00pm: Owning Your Worth

The afternoon session with Clare Palmer focuses on recognising your value, challenging limiting beliefs and stepping forward with confidence.

You'll leave with practical techniques you can use immediately in your work, business and personal life.

This session is often described as transformational, empowering and exactly what women didn't realise they needed.

3:30pm to 4.00pm: Close

We wrap up the day with reflections, next steps and a renewed sense of confidence for the journey ahead.
