Exhibition | 'Women of Yuendumu'

Mitchell Fine Art proudly presents Women of Yuendumu, a powerful and evocative exhibition celebrating the voices, stories, and creative legacy of some of Central Australia’s most influential female Aboriginal artists.

Originating from the remote Warlpiri community of Yuendumu, located 293km northwest of Alice Springs in Central Australia, these artists have transformed the landscape of contemporary Aboriginal art.

The Yuendumu art movement surged in the 1990s with a dynamic emergence of female painters. Embracing vivid acrylics and bold visual languages, these women reinterpreted ancient Dreamings through a contemporary lens.

Their paintings are not just artworks - they are maps of identity, ceremony, and country.

Women of Yuendumu showcases striking works by celebrated artists including Dorothy Napangardi, Eunice Napangardi, Judy Watson Napangardi, Liddy Walker Napanangka, Lola Brown Nampitjinpa, and Margaret Lewis Napangardi.

Each artwork is a visual songline - layered with ancestral memory and personal expression—offering viewers a rare insight into one of Australia’s most enduring and dynamic Indigenous art movements.
