In a world where our attention is constantly captured by vibrant advertising images across cities, social media, and television screens, there exists an overwhelming desire to consume. This visual inundation harkens back to the gritty yet captivating pop art era, inspired by influential figures such as Andy Warhol. The impact of this aesthetic extends into every facet of our lives, from cinematic masterpieces to everyday product packaging, and is deeply woven into the fabric of popular culture. Widely embraced by the masses, these images and ideas are disseminated through various forms of mass media.

This modern blend of realism and pop art aspires to revolutionize the media landscape that molds our perceptions. By merging portraiture with vivid advertising imagery, characterized by dynamic textures and fragmented typography, it crafts immersive visuals that mirror the chaotic nature of contemporary society. The art form leaves audiences with a profound and enduring impression of sensory overload, encapsulating the frenzied rhythm of modern life.

As an award winning photographer who is inspired by all things nature, wildlife and culture Im continuously spellbound by the sheer beauty and diversity of our wonderful world. In recent years I’ve been driven to further experiment and create outside of the usual photographic boundaries.

The humble seagull is generally a bird that rarely gets a second look. However, they emerged as the perfect subject matter for this series of images given their common, plentiful presence and quite often brash behaviour as chip stealing fiends.

This series of Limited Edition images were produced entirely in camera with none of the content digitally created. Their whimsical, impressionistic style and painterly effect, was created by photographing these birds using Intentional Camera Movement techniques combined with very slow shutter speeds to emphasise movement, create blur and transform what may be considered quite ordinary more towards the abstract extraordinary.

In “Myth,” I explore and expose some commonly held misconceptions, false beliefs and ideas. I question beliefs, hopes, coping mechanisms, and disappointments. Through my pieces, I aim to provoke contemplation on how we sometimes give up our ambitions and cease imagining that our minds can be as reliable as we had hoped. My works seek to expose the pressure to always be well, no matter the cost or circumstance. I observe the inclination to adjust ourselves in order to deliver the right results and meet others’ expectations. I also try to explore how our perspectives often attribute our worldview which leads us to identify all our enemies with political and economic ideologies.

I have always been intrigued by why some people find living a life that is a little too quiet, a little too undramatic, and a little too serene sometimes unsatisfying.
