Exit Trafficking Seminar | For Legal Practitioners | 4 Dec 2025
Event description
Join Anti-Slavery Australia in Canberra for a free seminar on exit trafficking – a rapidly growing form of modern slavery in Australia.
Exit trafficking is where a person is forced, pressured or tricked into leaving Australia. After travelling overseas, they may be abandoned, trapped or exploited, often making it difficult for them to return to Australia or get help.
Learn what exit trafficking is, how to identify and respond to it, and the key support options available. This seminar is designed for all legal sector practitioners, including those working in criminal, family and migration law.
The seminar will be delivered by Anti-Slavery Australia, a non-profit centre based at the University of Technology Sydney that has provided free and confidential legal services to people affected by modern slavery for over 20 years.
Key topics will include:
What is exit trafficking?
Common signs and indicators
Intersections with other forms of modern slavery and violence
Case studies
Support options and referral pathways
Spaces are limited so please register as early as possible.
For any questions, please contact Anti-Slavery Australia at ASAresearch@uts.edu.au.
