Join Millicent Sarre as she spearheads a 5 week program tailored to the needs of aspiring artists and creatives! With 5 topics, guest speakers and industry relevant information Millicent will guide you towards a multidisciplinary, multifaceted and flourishing career in the arts sector by expanding your artistic skillset. Our 5 Focus Areas;

  • Writing Original Songs: Mim will share her process for writing original music and lyrics, particularly for theatrical and comedic contexts. Participants will have the opportunity to share and workshop their original material should they wish.
  • Activism on Stage: In this session, Mim will share her strategies for creating original work that advocates for social change and progress in a productive and meaningful way.
  • Vocal Artistry: This session will focus on techniques for vocal artistry and vocal care that promote meaningful and sustainable voice use, including a masterclass opportunity for participants to workshop repertoire they find challenging.
  • Acting Through Song & Recontextualising Repertoire: This session will focus on the performance aspect of song, and the art of taking existing material and reworking it for a new context. This session will include a masterclass setting to workshop material.
  • The Business of the Arts: This session will focus on the financial and logistical side of an artistic pathway, promoting strategies to foster a sustainable and multi-faceted artistic career.

About Millicent Sarre (She/They)

Theatre Travels

Millicent Sarre, also known as Mim, is a cabaret artist, singer-songwriter, musical theatre
performer, and vocal coach, brought up and working on Kaurna Land. She is a passionate
advocate for woman, gender equity, and progressive social change, themes which are
prominent throughout her artistic output.

Mim has toured her original cabaret works Australia-wide; her most recent solo show
‘Millicent Sarre is Opinionated’ won ‘Best Cabaret’ of the Adelaide Fringe 2023, with the
album of original songs from the show released in February 2023. Her cabaret ‘Bisexual
Intellectuals’, a collaboration with fellow artists Jemma Allen and Rosie Russell, premiered
with an award-winning season at Adelaide Fringe 2024. She is also an experienced educator,
working as a director, vocal coach, music director, and song-writing mentor with Pembroke
School, Pelican Productions, Tutti Arts, Adelaide Theatre Academy, and Seymour College in
recent years. She currently mentors Adelaide Cabaret Festival’s ‘Class of Cabaret’ program.

Mim holds a Bachelor of Music Theatre from the Elder Conservatorium. Her musical theatre
credits include Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd (ECMT, dir. James Millar, 2023), Hildy in On the
Town (ECMT, dir. Erin James, 2023), Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th
