Event description

Join us for an engaging yarn with Boe Spearim, a Kooma, Murawarii and Gamilaraay, podcaster and activist, and creator of Frontier War Stories, as we explore the power of storytelling, truth-telling, and reimagining education systems. Boe will share his personal journey and the inspiration behind his acclaimed podcast, which has reached nearly 200,000 listeners over five years, shedding light on the untold histories of Australia’s frontier wars.

This deep dive yarn will delve into pressing topics such as the importance of truth-telling in addressing past injustices, and the challenges of overcoming denialism in Australia, and the systemic exclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people from schools. Boe will also share insights on justice, healing, and self-care, offering guidance for young people working to shape an Indigenous-led learning future.

Be inspired by Boe’s vision for an Indigenous learning future and hear about NIYEC’s upcoming report, which captures the voices of over 40 young leaders who have reimagined a learning system designed by and for First Nations people. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in a powerful yarn about truth, resilience, and transformative change.
