Event description

The ancient Celts observed Samhain (October 31) as their New Year, when the Wheel of the Year is taking its final turn. Many keep this tradition alive by symbolically letting go of what is no longer needed. During this virtual practice, we are going to base our mindfulness practice on this idea of clearing away old, negative energies.

This experience is a combination of observing nature's abundance through the practice of forest bathing, and reflecting on the turning of the Wheel with a creative gathering meant to rid you of old, stagnant energy that is no longer serving you.

You are welcome to explore your own backyard during this mindful nature practice. Participants will join a Zoom call where Kelsey will have prepared a guided session to immerse you in whatever nature is accessible to you. All you have to do is find a comfortable place (outside or indoors), and open your heart and mind to what wonders may be hidden in front of you.

For the creative portion of the experience, please have with you:

  • something to write with
  • something to color with (colored pencils, markers, watercolor, paint, etc.)
  • two pieces of paper (can be art paper, or simple printer paper will do!)

The practice of forest bathing encourages you to walk in the forest at a slower pace and take in the atmosphere around you. As a growing global wellness movement, it is backed by nearly 40 years of scientific research on the holistic benefits of immersing yourself in nature.

⟡ For your body: Release stress, breathe fresh air, boost your immune system, and get moving.

⟡ For your mind: Practice slow living and mindfulness in nature's soothing atmosphere, and leave with improved sleep and mental focus.

⟡ For your spirit: Connect and ground with the earth as you gain inspiration with increased creativity and mood.

Virtual Forest Bathing is a modern-day approach to the practice while allowing you to receive the benefits from the comfort of your home, with the unique addition of connecting with kindred spirits from around the country. Virtual Forest Bathing is not meant to replace the in-person experience! You are encouraged to find local guides in your area, as certain elements of the experience simply are not the same. A virtual experience is a lovely mindful practice for anyone, and it helps foster the unique perspective of experiencing the power of nature in your own backyard.
