Exploring Artistry: Devi Seetharam in Conversation with the SAARI Collective at Sydney Contemporary

Event description

SAARI Collective is a media startup and national community of South Asians - Founders, Media, Professionals and Creatives.

LON Gallery is thrilled to welcome the SAARI Collective Sydney's crew for an artist's talk with Devi Seetharam at Australasia's most ambitious art fair, Sydney Contemporary, held at Carriageworks.

Seetharam is an early-career artist based in Bangalore, India, and is known for her thought-provoking and meticulously rendered paintings that examine the performance of patriarchy in public space.

Seetharam will present new paintings from her ongoing series ‘Brothers, Fathers and Uncles’, which tackle the patriarchal vestiges of her hometown that have resisted the sweep of time. Paintings from this series were exhibited at the most recent edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, to significant acclaim.

We are thrilled to share Devi Seetharam’s works in Sydney for the first time.

Please join us on Friday 6 September, 6:30pm in booth F03 for a glass of champagne and to hear from Devi Seetharam about this fascinating and critically acclaimed body of work.

Spots are strictly limited and tickets are free only for the SAARI Community (a $74 value) so please RSVP by Wednesday 4 September at 5:00 pm.

A preview catalogue of works from the exhibition can be accessed here.

See you there!
