Description

Explore the possibilities of digital technology through a hands-on program with Reality Bytes Media, combining virtual reality (VR), coding, 3D design, creative arts and sustainability. VR headsets and all equipment are provided. Participants just need to bring along a laptop. For ages 10–18 years.

Join us for one session or all four Exploring Digital Programs! Bookings essential.

Session 1: VR & Coding Fundamentals

Digital Technologies
Tuesday 13 October 2026 | 4-6pm

Learn the basics of operating a VR headset before diving into coding to build interactive VR scenes.

Outcomes: digital literacy, computational thinking and confidence using XR devices.

Session 2: 3D Modelling & 360 Escape Room

Digital Technologies
Tuesday 10 November 2026 | 4-6pm

Learn the basics of 3D modelling for VR and design and build your own objects. Participants will then incorporate their creations into the existing 360 VR Payneham Library escape room experience developed during the previous program.

Outcomes: spatial reasoning, design thinking and introductory digital fabrication concepts.

Session 3: VR Art Gallery & Painting

Creative Arts
Tuesday 8 December 2026 | 4-6pm

Bring digital copies of your own artwork to display in a custom VR gallery, then explore hands-on VR painting and sculpting.

Outcomes: creative expression, digital curation and spatial design.

Session 4: SDG-Aligned Sustainability Solutions

STEM
Tuesday 12 January 2027 | 4-6pm

Choose a real-world sustainability challenge linked to a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), then work in a group to prototype a solution using VR and 3D design.

Outcomes: STEM problem-solving, systems thinking and sustainability literacy.
