Expressive Mixed Media with Julianne Gosper (6 weeks) 25T1
Event description
This is a fun and relaxed course aimed at experimenting with mark making to create artworks that capture the essence of your subject.
In this course we will cover how to simplify your subject into basic shapes, how to use value and contrast, colour theory, composition and layering techniques using a variety of mixed media.
By the end of this course students will:Â confidently be able to layer different types of mediums through experimentation to create a finished expressive artwork.
THIS CLASS IS FOR:Â beginners as well as those with experience.

REQUIRED MATERIALS
Some materials will be provided.
• Pencils - graphite 2B, 4B,6B
• ERASERS- Plastic, kneadable
• Pens- 2 Artline 0.2, 0.5
• Roll of paper towel
• A3 sketch pad cartridge/ Mixed media paper eg Renoir University pad
• Acrylic paints- variety of colours
• Soft Pastels - suggest Micador set as an inexpensive set
• Willow Charcoal
• Spray Fixative
• Variety of brushes eg ½ inch flat, 1 inch flat, small round, #6&10 flat brush
• Water container
• Palette
• Glue or binder medium
• Sheets of photocopy paper
• Water sprayer
• Stanley knife
• Hair-dryer
• Any other materials you have eg colour pencils
ABOUT THE TUTORÂ
Julianne Gosper has 25+ years experience both as a practising artist and Art teacher in both secondary schools and T.A.F.E.Â
She holds a B.A in Fine Arts, U.N.S.W and a Diploma in Arts Education from Deakin University.Â
She has won numerous awards including The Bendigo Art prize, the Louis Ellem Art Prize and in 2021 she was also selected as a finalist in the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award.
Julianne loves to explore and experiment in a variety of mediums to produce energetic, large scale artworks capturing the essence of her subject matter.
She loves to share her knowledge and skills to inspire others with a particular focus on experimentation and having fun.Â
Julianne has a particular interest in advocating the benefits of the Arts for Wellbeing. For the past several years she has worked with Special needs students developing an Arts Enrichment Program focussing on improving mental health building confidence and self esteem.
