Please note this training programme takes place in-person in Edinburgh from 10am-4pm across 2 days:

You must be able to physically attend the training across both days to be enrolled. Please note also that refreshments will be provided but you are expected to bring your own lunch.

This training programme is aimed at early years practitioners, particularly those interested in the principles of Open Kindergarten.

Background

Facilitating Attuned Interactions (FAN) is a relational practice framework and approach for professionals working with families in Early Years.

The role of the frontline practitioner is crucial; learning and evidence from Phase 3 of the Open Kindergarten project cited the importance of having tools to respond to the emotional aspects of working with families, balanced with robust support including reflection opportunities to build and maintain a healthy, well supported practitioner. 

Having embedded FAN training as a core learning for all staff since 2018, Midlothian Sure Start are now able to offer FAN Training more widely in Scotland as part of our partnership work on the Phase 4 Open Kindergarten project in conjunction with Children in Scotland and Parenting Across Scotland.

Midlothian Sure Start supports infants, young children and their families to ensure they are building best beginnings. Midlothian Sure Start is an award-winning organisation who have embraced the Erikson Institute's FAN training and have embedded it as a core learning for all staff since 2018.
