CANCELLED Fail-a-bration! Turning failures into success with Dreamers Collective
Event description
Please note: We have sadly had to cancel this event. We hope to reschedule for a future date soon.
You're invited!!!
Join us at our Fail-a-bration – where we embrace the lessons, laugh at the slip-ups, and cheer on every bold step forward. It's time to reframe failure as a stepping stone, not a setback!
Join Dreamers Collective and a panel of inspirational women for an evening of storytelling, learning & connection. Leave with the tools and courage to embrace life's failures with more acceptance, self-compassion and confidence. Together let’s shatter the fear of failure and learn to celebrate the journey, not just the destination. Fail-a-bration is your space to connect, share stories, and laugh through the missteps.
We'll celebrate courage, resilience, and the unexpected wins hidden within each stumble. At Fail-a-bration, we'll redefine failure together!
If you...
- Fear failure in life and business
- Let perfection get in the way of moving forward
- Feel like you're not where you 'should' be in life
- Feel like your plans for the year have gone awry and are feeling like you've 'failed' at 2024
- Sense you're meant to do great things but let the fear of failure stop you
YOU'RE NOT ALONE!
Let’s turn ‘I failed’ into ‘I learned’ and have some fun while we’re at it!
Inspired by the recently launched book 'Fail-a-Bration' by Brad and Kristi Montague. The authors have started a movement for kids and adults alike to celebrate the way failing actually means you tried and learned something. Failing doesn’t have to bad! It's just part of the process of learning to do something better. So put on a party hat and join the fail-a-bration!

MEET THE SPEAKERS:
Host & MC: Michelle Keating - Founder, Dreamers Collective
Michelle's early business ventures left her feeling like a failure. She felt trapped in a 9-to-5 job that covered her bills but didn’t ignite her passion. Then, she stumbled across an article about Walt Disney’s first business venture going bankrupt, which sparked a revelation: what if her initial setbacks in business weren’t failures, but lessons to build upon?
Inspired, she recommitted to her dream of meaningful work. This journey led her to present over 500 personal development workshops for global stationery brand kikki.K, and eventually to found Dreamers Collective—a vibrant online community that helps ambitious women pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.
Michelle's own experience of navigating failure and overcoming perfectionism fuels her drive to empower women to embrace failure and chase what truly matters. She believes each woman has a unique impact to make, and she’s passionate about helping them create it.
Living by the beach in Waiake with her husband and six-year-old daughter, Michelle enjoys growing flowers, mixing cocktails, and is the author of the upcoming book, Shine.

Katie Rickson - Founder, Compassion Poetry
Katie Rickson is an experienced content writer and editor. Since 2017, she’s written hundreds of blogs, dozens of case studies, and edited several books for self-published authors. In December 2020, Katie launched Compassion Poetry, a home for her poetry and essays about love, life and creating a living with bipolar.
Later, Katie launched her Substack newsletter: Business in the Bath. She’s also finished the first draft of her book of the same name.
Her work and story have been featured on several podcasts and platforms including MUV Talks, TheOneUp Project podcast, The Creative Mother Podcast, The Pantograph Punch, Kiwi Diary 2024 and, most recently, in the anthology The Poetical Lobe. She’s also an actor and has starred in several amateur dramatics’ productions both at university and with Cutting Edge Drama.
Katie offers webinars and “lunch and learn” sessions to corporates and small-to-medium-sized businesses. She presented her story about severe postpartum distress to an audience of over 100 at the University of Otago 2017 Service User and Academia Symposium in Wellington.
Despite her triumphs, Katie's no stranger to failure and rejection. Experiencing bipolar has often felt like a huge setback – especially after time spent in hospital where she feels like she needs to start from scratch. Her submissions to literary competitions and publications far outweigh the acceptance emails she's received. Despite her acting training, she has not secured many paid roles.
But she now understands that she wants to – she has to – stay in the arena. She understands that putting yourself out there is largely a numbers game and that it can take 15 years to become an overnight success! And, most importantly, failure has taught her self-compassion, a gentle grit, and the willingness to get back up and try again.
