Description

Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Awareness Training- Online Course
3.5hr Short Course

Safer responses start with awareness.

Recognise the signs of FDV. Respond safely. Support with confidence.

This interactive workshop builds participants' confidence in recognising the signs of FDV and develop skills to respond in ways that are safe, respectful, and supportive.

Participants will develop practical awareness and skills to

  • Recognise the signs and dynamics of FDV, including understanding coercive control as a form of FDV

  • Deepen your understanding of the lived impacts of FDV on victim‑survivors.

  • Recognise victim-survivors' resilience and resistance to violence.

  • Learn FDV-informed ways to respond that are safe, supportive and respectful, whether you are a professional, colleague, friend, neighbour, or community member.

  • Identify practical resources, supports and referral pathways for victim-survivors and their families that prioritise safety and trauma‑informed responses.

  • Understand their role and limits as a responder.

  • Learn ways to manage your own self-care when responding to and supporting those impacted by FDV.

This session is educational, not therapeutic.
It is designed to build community capability, strengthen responses, and support a collective commitment to ending violence against women.

Why This Course Matters

  • A survivor‑centred approach
Learn communication and response strategies that uphold dignity, choice, and respect.

  • Clarity in complexity
FDV can be hard to spot from the outside. This training provides the language, confidence, and insights needed to recognise abuse early.

  • Community responsibility
Ending violence is a shared effort. Increased awareness and safe, informed responses from community members can create meaningful pathways to safety.

Who Should Attend?

Friends, colleagues, neighbours or family members; community members wanting to better understand FDV and how to respond and support those impacted.

This session is suitable for anyone over 18 years old who is committed to fostering safety, respect, and equality.

No prior knowledge required.
